Departmental Description:

The Department of Emergency Medicine faculty provide attending care to patients in the University Medical Center Emergency Department and Urgent Care. Almost 70,000 sick and injured children and adults are seen in the Emergency Department annually. All faculty are board-certified specialists in Emergency Medicine.

Educational programs offered by Emergency Medicine include a fully accredited residency program, house officer rotations for residents in other disciplines, medical student rotations in the third and fourth year, fellowships in Medical Toxicology and Emergency Medical Services and a fully credentialed Paramedic training program. Emergency Medicine faculty also participates in teaching continuing medical education courses for physicians, nurses, and prehospital personnel, and workshops and conferences in a variety of prehospital and emergency medical services topics. Postgraduate continuing education includes the Advanced Hazmat Life Support Course and a full complement of educational conferences for medical students and residents.
